Devil's Pool and the Wissahickon Gorge

The Wissahickon Gorge cuts a steep, wooded ravine through northwest Philadelphia, and in summer the forest canopy shades much of the trail along the creek. At Devil's Pool, a natural swimming hole where Cresheim Creek meets the Wissahickon, locals have been swimming (illegally, technically) for generations. The pool was officially closed due to safety concerns, but on hot summer days, you'll still find dozens of swimmers ignoring the signs.
