Content Guidelines

Our community guidelines keep LocaleLore accurate, respectful, and genuinely useful — a knowledge layer for places that people can actually trust.

Quality Content

  • • Lesser-known information and personal observations tied to a specific location

How a Story Gets on the Map

Every new story is read by a person on the LocaleLore team before it is published.

Review

  1. A member submits a story. It waits, unpublished.
  2. Someone on the LocaleLore team reads it and approves or rejects it against these guidelines
  3. Approved stories appear on the map and in search
  4. Approval is not a fact-check. Give your sources, and correct your story if someone shows it is wrong
  5. Edits you make to your own published story show up straight away

Voting

Members can vote a published story up or down. Up-votes help a story show as trending; votes do not publish or remove anything.

  • • Vote based on accuracy, not personal preference
  • • Provide sources when suggesting a correction
  • • Be constructive in feedback
  • • Consider cultural context and perspectives
  • • Report lore that violates guidelines

Moderation and Reporting

When to Report Content

  • • Inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content
  • • Spam or commercial advertising
  • • False or misleading information
  • • Copyright violations
  • • Privacy violations
  • • Content that violates these guidelines

What Happens to a Report

  1. It goes into a queue that only the LocaleLore team can see
  2. We read it by hand and check the content against these guidelines
  3. If the content breaks them, we can unpublish or remove it
  4. You can see the status of your reports in Settings
  5. We don't promise a response time. If you think we got a decision wrong, tell us through the Contact page

Consequences for Violations

Depending on how serious a violation is, we may take any of these steps.

Possible Actions

Warning: First-time minor violations
Content Removal: Violation of content guidelines
Temporary Suspension: Repeated violations
Permanent Ban: Serious or repeated violations
