The Founding Father You Can Visit for a Penny

Benjamin Franklin — printer, scientist, diplomat, and one of the nation's founders — is buried at Christ Church Burial Ground at 5th and Arch Streets. His grave sits just inside the Arch Street wall, where anyone can see it through the fence and toss a penny for good luck for free. The burial ground also holds the graves of four other signers of the Declaration of Independence: George Ross, Francis Hopkinson, Joseph Hewes, and Benjamin Rush. Walking among the graves inside requires a modest admission fee.
