Philadelphia's Magic Gardens

Spread across several lots on South Street, the Magic Gardens is a massive mosaic art installation created by Isaiah Zagar over 14 years. Using bottles, bicycle wheels, mirrors, and folk art from around the world, Zagar transformed abandoned lots into a labyrinthine outdoor gallery. When the landowner moved to sell the lots in 2002, the work faced demolition until a community campaign secured the land in 2004.
