The First Computer Was Built in Philly

by team6 months agohistory

ENIAC, the world's first general-purpose electronic computer, was built at the University of Pennsylvania's Moore School of Electrical Engineering in 1945. The machine weighed 30 tons, occupied 1,800 square feet, and used 18,000 vacuum tubes. ENIAC was originally designed to calculate artillery firing tables for the U.S. Army. Several of its original panels are on display at the university's engineering building.
