Tucked between Front and 2nd Streets in Old City, Elfreth's Alley dates back to 1703 and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited residential streets in the United States. Its houses, built between 1720 and 1836 for tradespeople and artisans, are still mostly private homes today. Residents open their homes to the public on "Fete Day" in June and again at "Deck the Alley" in December. Look for the tiny mirrors (called "busybodies") mounted outside windows so residents could see who was at their door.
