When the Benjamin Franklin Bridge opened in 1926, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,750 feet. Engineered by Ralph Modjeski, with architect Paul Philippe Cret, and painted its signature blue, the bridge connects Philadelphia to Camden, New Jersey. Its Art Deco towers and sweeping cables are especially spectacular at night when illuminated by a new LED lighting system installed in 2023. The bridge has a pedestrian/bike path that offers stunning views of both city skylines.
