The Philadelphia Saving Fund Society (PSFS) building at 12th and Market was completed in 1932 and is widely regarded as the first International Style skyscraper in the United States. Designed by George Howe and William Lescaze, its sleek, functional design broke with the ornamental Art Deco style that dominated the era. The rooftop PSFS sign, with its glowing red letters, is one of Philadelphia's most recognizable features. The building is now a Loews Hotel.
