Spruce Street Harbor Park: The Urban Beach

by team6 months agolocal

Every summer, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation transforms a stretch of the Penn's Landing waterfront into Spruce Street Harbor Park — an open-air park with hammocks strung between trees, floating gardens, food vendors, and glowing LED lights at night. It's completely free to visit and has become one of the most popular warm-weather gathering spots in the city. It sits on Penn's Landing, named in memory of William Penn's 1682 arrival; he first came ashore downriver at Chester, though tradition places his landing in the city a few blocks north, near Dock Creek.
