The Broad Street Bullies: Hockey's Toughest Team

by team6 months agosports

The Philadelphia Flyers of the mid-1970s earned the nickname "Broad Street Bullies" for their physically intimidating style of play. Led by captain Bobby Clarke and enforcer Dave Schultz ("The Hammer"), the Flyers won back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1974 and 1975 — becoming the first expansion team to win the Cup. Schultz set a single-season penalty record of 472 minutes in 1974-75 that still stands. Opposing teams were literally afraid to play in the Spectrum.
