The Ghosts of Laurel Hill Cemetery

by team6 months agolegend

Laurel Hill Cemetery, founded in 1836 on a bluff above the Schuylkill River, was one of the first "rural" garden cemeteries in America. It was so beautiful that it became a popular picnic destination in the Victorian era. Among its famous residents are six Titanic victims, 40 Civil War generals, and numerous Philadelphia elite. After dark, local ghost stories cling to its winding paths, though they remain folklore. The cemetery is a National Historic Landmark.
